Juggling Dreams, Deadlines, and Debugging: A life recap
Spoiler Level: 🫣 None! Just real talk.
Let’s Recap...
Normally, I get to dedicate all of my after-work hours to reading my favorite book cozied up on the couch. Lately, I’m coding HTML until 11pm like a caffeinated squirrel with Wi-Fi.
Trying to build a blog while working full time should honestly qualify as a competitive sport. There are times I’m so mentally fried by 2pm, the idea of choosing a font feels like solving world peace. And don’t get me started on trying to make Blogger and Shopify play nice — it’s like herding digital cats.
The Blog Building Burnout Is Real
Let me paint you a picture: I just want to read books, write reviews, post cozy product blurbs, and maybe make a mug or two for other bookish souls. Instead, I’m up at 11pm asking ChatGPT (Nova) “how to hide Blogger posts from homepage without breaking the internet.”
There’s been trial. There’s been error. There’s been a very real risk of rage-quitting.
But also? There’s been progress. Real, slow, glorious progress.
Things I’m Proud Of (Even If I’m Tired):
-
I set up an entire Shopify storefront — passwords, shipping zones, SEO and all.
-
I made a couple product designs I’m actually proud of (including a cozy mug and blanket).
-
I linked everything together so when people stumble into my corner of the internet, it actually works. (at least, I think it does.)
-
I’m learning. And that matters.
TV I’m Watching While Pretending I’m Not Tired:
Let’s be honest, sometimes I “watch” shows while fixing "one last thing" on the blog. Right now, I’ve got my fourth re-run of Heartland playing in the background like a supportive friend. I tend to resort to comfort shows as re-runs - the shows you can get away with just listening to because the shock factors were eliminated on the first play through. A few of mine include Criminal Minds, Gilmore Girls (duh), Heartland, and NCIS.
So, What’s the Point of This Post?
It’s a little vent. A little cheer. A little reminder that chasing a dream while juggling life is messy — and that’s okay. If you're feeling the same, you’re not alone.
And if you're reading this while procrastinating on your own passion project… go you. You showed up.
Now that I’ve overshared… it’s your turn! What’s going on in your world lately?
