Other People's Lives - J.E. Rowney

From the very first chapter, Other People’s Lives gave me a creeping sense of mystery. The atmosphere was unsettling, like I could feel someone lurking in the corner of the page. And right away, I realized I didn’t trust a single character. Everyone had secrets — and Dr. Thacker, especially, radiated the kind of “polite but off” vibes that made my skin crawl.

Rowney’s writing kept me second-guessing every clue. Was Sophie paranoid? Was she covering something up? Why did she sign her letters differently each time? The deeper I got, the more tangled it became. I found myself drawing out a literal map just to keep track of who was who and what secrets belonged to whom — and honestly, I loved that it forced me to pay attention.

This is a twisty, quick psychological thriller that thrives on confusion and suspicion. If you like feeling unsettled and pulled in multiple directions at once, this one delivers.
